Thankyou for your great books! Having been to Peru without any prior knowledge a few months ago your books have started to 'flesh' things out a bit more and made me think about my place as a tourist.
In relation to your quote from above 'I’m drawn to mountains that have a special spiritual meaning for the people who live in them' do you feel/is their any evidence of this kind of 'spiritual' relationship between people and mountains in England. I live in the Lake District (just for the last few years) but to be honest as much as I like going up mountains, I don't feel the same kind of 'connection' if you like to them as for example I did in Peru where there they had more value to the people(not just monetarily). Just wondering about your thoughts on this.

Thanks,
Felix

I had the fortunate opportunity to trek with Gary Ziegler last Spring and we started one trek in Chinchero. It saddens me deeply to hear of such disregard for the sacred land all in the name of "progress". You would think that we humans would be awake enough to see how we have disrespected our Mother Earth and our ancestors as well as disregarded our future generations. This land provides sustenance for many...look at it's beauty in the photo above. So much more valuable than the "mighty" dollar (sol). We need to WAKE UP and STOP such abominable useless projects!

Hi Hugh
I'm currently reading The White Rock in anticipation of a trip to Peru in April 2013 and am thoroughly enjoying it. Much to my delight (but not surprise!) I just discovered you are also responsible for the wonderful Indian Journey series (of which, unfortunatley, I only saw the stunning City of Djinns). I have been trying to find this series on DVD for many years. Do you know where I might purchase a copy?
Many thanks Hugh - and thank you for the wonderful inspiration!

I just finished "The Green Road into the Trees". Wonderful read! I am an American and we often visit my ex-pat daughter and her family in Watlington. I am also a physicist and it's fascinating to me that you are the grandson and great-grandson of G.P. and J.J. Thomson, respectively . You also mention (p. 247) two other Nobel Laureate grandparents, presumably with other surnames. Who might they be?
Thanks. Peter
